Convocation 2015

power_of_3_logo.jpgConvocation serves as the "official" opening of the new academic year and the first of many shared experiences at Great Bay Community College.  Convocation provides an opportunity to emphasize and promote community among the membership of the college - including students, faculty and staff and administration. It is both a symbolic and ceremonial tradition that reminds us of our role as an institution of higher education and our commitment to academic excellence and community engagement.

Welcome Back Party & Movie

Come celebrate the beginning of a new school year with us! We will be having a big welcome back party in the new Student Success Center with all sorts of games, including mini golf, giant Jenga, air hockey, and more. There will be lots of pizza and snacks, and a pre-release showing of Ted 2 on the big screen. So bring your energy, appetite, a blanket to watch the movie on, and have a laugh with us. forest trailMindfulness involves training the mind to focus on the experience of the present moment without judgment.  When practiced consistently over time, research has shown mindfulness meditation may help reduce stress, chronic pain issues, high blood pressure, heart disease, asthma, anxiety, panic attacks, depression and fatigue.  It may also help improve quality of sleep, immune function, self-esteem and ability to cope with stressful situations. There will be a photo booth set up in the main lobby of the Portsmouth campus. Drop in and take some silly photos with friends and get a photo strip to take home with you, just like the photo booths at the mall or the beach, only this one is FREE. Don’t forget to smile.

BLITZ Air Park

Sep. 16th 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm

Join us for a night of extreme air at Blitz Air Park in Portsmouth! Blitz is equipped with wall-to-wall trampolines and games such as dodgeball and basketball are available. There is also an open jump area where you can bounce on the long tumble tracks, fly from platform to platform, or challenge yourself to bounce off the trampoline walls!

A portable rock climbing wall from Vertical Dreams will be set up on the front lawn of the college for students to climb on. Come outside and try your hand at getting up this challenging rock wall. Everything you need is provided including two experienced climbers to assist you. The wall is suitable for all ages and skill levels. Come check it out!
