International Student Advising
International students (those students
holding F or M visas) and other non-resident students (those students
on work (H) or visiting visas (B), or exchange visas (J), etc.)
can access immigration and counseling services by contacting the
International Student Services Coordinator, Diana Varga.
Advising
and Support services includes information regarding maintaining
or changing status, traveling, employment eligibility, taxes,
health insurance, and legal referral, the Great Bay admissions process,
language testing, etc. International Students, those students who hold an F or M visa and have a Certificate of Eligibility (Form I-20) from Great Bay, will be tracked in SEVIS, the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System. This system is monitored by the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration services within the Department of Homeland Security. Student information will be entered into the system by Great Bay’s Designated School Official, Diana Varga. International Students need to be enrolled full time (12 credits) and must report to the DSO each semester to verify enrollment and registration within the tracking system.
Other things to keep in mind when teaching/advising International Students:
-effects of homesickness and culture shock
