ECE214G - Appropriate Discipline and Guidance for Young Children

The emphasis of the course is on the role of positive child guidance in preparing young children to become competent, confident, and cooperative individuals. Developmentally-appropriate methods of guiding children will be shared, along with effective strategies for preventing disruptive behaviors in the classroom. A recurring theme will be the impact of positive discipline on self-esteem. The influence of developmental, environmental, and health factors will be examined. Theories behind the approaches and techniques of discipline and guidance issues will be discussed.

Prerequisites: ECE100G or permission of the instructor or the program coordinator. ​
