ApplyFor Stevanie Kanter, success is more than money or status; it’s about loving what you do and achieving the goals you set. Her journey to a college started long before she enrolled at Great Bay Community College and will continue after she graduates this May.
To ensure Stavanie and her siblings had the best opportunities; Mr. and Mrs. Kanter made the ultimate sacrifice and left their life in Indonesia to guarantee their children had access to a good education. It’s no surprise Stevanie’s motivation comes from her family. “My family pushes me to do my best and I want to make them proud,” Kanter said. “I’m inspired by their love and support.” Stevanie also credits her advisor, Dawn Comito, Program Coordinator Hospitality Management. “Dawn believed in me and always gave the best advice,” Kanter said. “She guided me to find my passion and truly wants to see me succeeded.”
Initially Stevanie chose Great Bay Community College because it was affordable and close to home, it wasn’t until she was a student she realized its’ potential. “People think lightly of Community Colleges; for me it was one of the best decisions I have ever made,” said Kanter. “Being a part of the GBCC community has taught me so much about myself and I was able to learn a lot through my experiences.”
After completing her Associate in Science in Hospitality Management, Stevanie will transfer to University of New Hampshire where she will work towards her bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, an industry that serves an important role in the global economy and is one of the largest and fastest growing.
