Wildolfo Arvelo, former GBCC President and current Director of the New Hampshire Division of Economic Development, to speak
PORTSMOUTH – On Saturday, May 12th, three-hundred and twenty students will be awarded an associate degree and or certificate from Great Bay Community College. Commencement exercises will take place at the College’s Portsmouth campus at the Pease Tradeport. To accommodate the large number of participants, there will be two events, one at 10AM and another at 2PM both held in the College’s Student Success Center.
The Speaker for the College’s 72nd Commencement ceremony will be Wildofo Arvelo, Director of the New Hampshire Division of Economic Development and former President of Great Bay Community College.
Graduates include traditional and non-traditional students from Portsmouth, Exeter, Dover and Rochester as well as other communities across the state, Massachusetts and southern Maine. While a number of graduates will continue to direct employment from programs such as Medical Assisting and Advanced Composites Manufacturing and the new Automotive and Motorcycle Maintenance and Repair certificate programs, others will transfer on to higher degrees.
This year, GBCC maintained their position as the largest feeder for transfer students to the University of New Hampshire from both 2 and 4-year institutions. UNH also reported Great Bay and as having the largest number of transfer applications to the state’s flagship institution out of all of the Community College System of New Hampshire colleges.
Graduates of the following programs will attend the 10AM ceremony: Accounting, Advanced Composites Manufacturing, American Studies, Automotive Technology, Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Business Administration, Computer Technologies, Criminal Justice, Practical Data Science, Digital Media Communications, Early Childhood Education, Education, Engineering, English, Environmental Studies, Fine Arts, Hospitality Management, Information Systems Technology, Liberal Arts, Management, Marketing, Psychology, Technical Studies and Welding.
Graduates of the following programs will attend the 2PM ceremony: Massage Therapy, Medical Office Administrative Assistant, Nursing, Surgical Technology, and Veterinary Technology.
GBCC has been conferring degrees on the NH Seacoast since 1945.
